Parent Commitment
As a parent and a member of Casey Little Athletics it has always been part of the centres running that all families join in, when possible, to perform a set number of duties each year during track and field season, so as to make the day run without delay.
Its what our centre is about, Family, Fun and Fitness.
This participation help enables the events to run smoothly without interruption and also allows parents to join in with the children and understand some of the requirements of events without the need to become a coach or an expert in the event.
By registering your child or children for Athletics at Casey you should be aware that you are also committing to, and accepting the following;
Performing a set number of duties during the track and field season 2009 – 2010, including region and state events, the maximum number of duties for each age group for regular competition will be finalised by around the 4th week of competition. Any entries to state and regional championships will require you to perform an additional number of club duties.
Typically you may only be required to perform a duty once a month, duty participation will be captured each week by the club so as to ensure everyone get a fair share of performing a duty and when a duty is completed, it is recorded.
Duties could be a simple as helping out in the canteen or following the younger age groups around as they compete and helping the key officials. Duties should not be seen as difficult or hard as there will always be someone at the venue to help with questions.
Should you be unable to perform duties due to medical or personal reasons we encourage you to write to the club and your request will be considered at the next committee meeting following receipt of your letter. A response will be sent to you within one week of the committee meeting.
Details of duties completed by all families will be available on the Casey website and will be updated on a regular basis. This will also act as a reminder to families so they can complete all their required duties during the season.
The duties completed will be based upon the family signing the duty sheet with the team manager or chief of officials each week. If you cant find either of these a committee member will be able to help. Families can assign relatives or guardians to perform duties on the day so long as it is clearly identified for recording purposes. It should be noted that each child no matter their age MUST have a responsible adult at the venue at all times.
If you have not have completed the required number of duties by sign up for regions and/or state your request to enter these competitions may not be accepted by the club.
Any entries to state and regional championships will require you to perform an additional number of club duties as assigned by the club and VLAA, failure to perform duties at state and regional championships may also preclude your families registration the following year (2010 /2011 T&F season).
Where a family has multiple children they will only be required to do the duties as applied to the age group where there is the largest number of duties assigned for the year.
Each age group may possibly have a different number of duties per season due to the number of competing athletes in the age group.
Thanks in advance for your participation.
