Parent Duty
Thank-you to all parents who have been helping out by doing parent duty. The reality of Little Athletics is that in order to run efficiently we need many helpers. If one link is missing, so that an event can’t start, be measured, recorded or entered into the Data Base – there will be no event, no result, no star award and no PB awards. No canteen, no BBQ......no Centre.
Parents are required to complete 6 duties (or its equivalent) for the season, with 2 duties to be completed before Christmas (refer to the Parent Commitment Document or at the back of the Casey LAC Handbook).
We require in excess of 100 helpers every program. There are a great variety of Duties to choose from. Some people choose to select a permanent duty that they do every week; some duties require a degree of skill or authorisation (such as Starter, walk judge), some require basic knowledge or no real skill at all.
Those doing duty: Please remember to sign on at the Officials Table or with the Age Group Manager to make sure your duty is registered. Parents with a duty tag are able to get free tea or coffee at the canteen Remember all weekly helpers can fill out the Little Athletics/IGA Competition Slip at the Officials Table to go in the monthly draw to win a $200 shopping voucher
Parent Duty Description
Each parent/guardian is expected to complete at least 6 full days of Duty. This season we have made things easier by breaking the day down into events. We usually have 5 events per age group on each day of competition.
Parents/guardians will have their name ticked off the list for each event they attend and do duty. 5 events counts as 1 full day of duty. So this allows parents/guardians the flexibility to do say 2 events per day for 15 days or 5
events a day for 6 days. You can do it any way you like so long as the events add up to 30 (6 full days). Some parent/guardians prefer to help out in the canteen or on the BBQ. In these areas just 2 hours counts as 1 full day of duty.
Of course there are many parents/guardians who do far more duty than this. Helping out is very rewarding and a great way to see our children competing and enjoying themselves. Parents need to be aware that children whose parent/guardian has not completed 6 full days of duty will be ineligible to compete in the Casey Centre Championships or receive a trophy. Additionally they may be restricted from competing at Region or State events.
Also all parent/guardians will need to have completed at least 2 full days of duty before the Christmas break or your child may be ineligible to compete after the Christmas break. As in other years all parent/guardians of competing children (if your child is entered) are expected to help out at the following events: Casey Centre Championships, Regional Relay, Regional Championships, State Championships. To check you duty status please go to the Parent Duty Register.
Should you have any questions or need any assistance regarding duty, please feel free to talk to Cameron Skeggs at the Duty sign on desk on any day of competition.
Thanks in advance for your participation.
