Cross Country Championships
Casey
Little Athletics held their Cross Country Championships on Saturday
morning 30th July and were treated to magnificent sunny weather.
89 athletes (ranging from Under 6 to Open Age) competed for medals over various
distances in the finale to what has been a very successful cross country season
for Casey Little Athletics. Throughout the season Casey won the overall top centre
award at the Knox Open Day and also had 4 medallists at the State Cross Country
Championships which were held in Ballarat in early July.
To add to the excitement, one of Casey Little Athletics former champions, Jordan
Nelson returned to the club to assist with the trophy and medal presentations.
This was a real thrill for the athletes as Jordan will be representing Australia
in the World Junior Mountain Running Championships in Albania, Europe on September
11th. He will be running 8.2km up long hills and rough terrain. He recently won
the Australian Junior Mountain Running Championships in Queensland to qualify
for the World Championships.
VLAA
State
Cross Country Championships
On Sunday
3rd July 2011 some of our athletes competed at Ballarat in the VLAA State
Cross Country Championships. Our athletes challenged a competitive field
from across the State to finish with many PB's, particularly by some of our younger
athletes in cold weather on a heavy and muddy
track. A
great effort by the U11 G Team for achieving a Silver medal and Lochlan
Lyness U13B for winning his
Silver medal in the 3000m event.
Well
done
to all those who attended.
