	News 5th October 2008 First Track and Field program for 2008-9 Casey Little Athletics Centre held it's first Track and Field program on Saturday 4th October and it was fantastic to see so many new athletes try out for the first time. Many of last years athletes also returned to participate in another year of Track & Field competition. Casey had over 380 athletes competing on the day. We thank all the parents that helped out for duties which assisted in the smooth running of the program. This Saturday 11 October, any athletes aged under 13's to under 16's wanting to compete in the 1300 meter steeple are asked to be at the track at 7.45am for an 8am start. All other Athletes and Parents need to be at the track to sign on for duties by 8am with warm ups for athletes commencing at 8.15am. Training is held at Edwin Flack Reserve on Tuesday's from 5.30pm to 6.30pm for under 6's to 9's, and Thursday's from 5.30pm - 6.30pm for under 10's to 16's. Have you been attending the Centre for a few years and would like to take on an important role? We require a partnership of two committed people to manage the Relays this season. Last years team will provide support and encouragement. Please contact the Secretary if you are willing to help. Uniform Officers Required Are you and a friend able to manage Centre and Regional uniforms at the Registration days on Saturday 20th and 27th September and throughout the coming 2008/2009 season? Please contact the Secretary if you are willing to help. BBQ and Canteen help Required You and your mates are needed to help out throughout the coming season to provide food at the Centre canteen and BBQ under the guidance of our Canteen Manager. This help will be regarded as Duty and count towards your fortnightly parent duty. Please contact the Secretary if you are able to help. Introduction to Coaching Course - 2008 Are you interested in Coaching at Little Athletics? Any Casey parent’s who are interested in attending the ‘Introduction to Coaching Course’ on Sunday the 26th of October at Casey Little Athletics Centre, please contact our Casey Coaching Coordinator: Chris Nelson on 0425787020. To be eligible for the centre to pay your registration fee, you must be available to attend one of our training nights each week (Tues & Thurs 5.30-6.30pm) during the summer season from the start of October 2008 until the middle of March 2009. Experienced coaches are on hand to assist your growth and development as a new coach at training. A registration form is available here. 		On Saturday 9th August, Casey Little Athletics had it's Cross Country Championship and Presentation Day to finish another successful season of Cross Country running.

	Recent News 1st October 2008 Season Starts this Saturday Welcome to our new families and also welcome back families returning from the last summer season. The Season starts this Saturday 4th October 2008. Please arrive early at 8.00 am to sign on for Duty and to prepare your children for warm up at 8.15 am for the competition to start at 8.30 am sharp. If you have not already registered your children you are still able to do this. Proof of age is required for all new registrations. Please bring a copy of your child/ren’s birth certificate upon registration. Check out our Information page here. 15th September 2008 Registration Days Our two registration days are coming up soon. They are on Saturday 20th and 27th September, from 9am till 11am, at Edwin Flack Reserve. On these days you can come along and register for the 2008 / 2009 summer season, as well as have a chance to chat to members of the committee. Proof of age is required for all new registrations. Check out our Information page here. 8th September 2008 Australian Race Walking Championships Rebecca and Rachael Guy competed in the recent Australian Race Walking Championships at Albert Park. Rachael Guy 9yrs competed in the u/12 age group and finished fifth and was part of the Team winning the Gold Medal. Rebecca Guy 12yrs competed in the u/14 age group and finished 12th. The Victorian Race Walking Club, Melbourne, is a specialist race walking club which has been affiliated with Athletics Victoria since 1921. Well done to both Casey Little Athletes. 25th August 2008 National Cross Country & Walks Championship Results The National Cross Country Championship was held at Eastern Park in Geelong from 22nd to 25th August 2008. It was a fantastic weekend of results by all athletes competing against the best athletes in Australia. Samantha Prime finished 1st to become National Champion for 13 year old girls and the Victorian Team was awarded the Gold medal. Charlie Jagusch came 4th & Jessica Cox came 10th for 11 year old girls and were also awarded Team Gold Medals. Jordan Nelson finished 9th in the Boys 16 - 17 years age group and won a Team Silver Medal. Siobhan Jagusch was recovering from illness and completed the race well. Jade Sanders came 4th in the National walks held on Sunday 24th August, at Albert Park Lake and won the Team Gold Medal. All these athletes are proud members of Casey Little Athletics Centre. Congratulations to all the athletes that competed at the National Cross Country and Walks Championships. 10th August 2008 Cross Country On Saturday 9th August, Casey Little Athletics had it's Cross Country Championship and Presentation Day to finish another successful season of Cross Country running. A fun morning was had by all athletes and parents with a special guest 'Casey Clown' coming to cheer on the young athletes in their 1000m race. All Children were excited as they wanted to beat 'Casey Clown' to the finish line. Parents joined in on the fun too, with a special 1000m adult race. Presentation of Championship medals and Trophies were awarded to athletes on the day. Rod thanked all the parents that helped make the cross country run smoothly over the season and congratulated all Athletes on their fantastic efforts. Manuka Road, Berwick. 4th August 2008 Cross Country On Sunday the 3rd August, 2008 Casey Little Athletics centre competed in the Victorian State Cross Country Championships at Lardner Park - Warragul with exceptional results. The track was very muddy and challenging. All Casey Athletes put in a fantastic effort to compete against all the other centres in the State. 		Casey Little Athletics traveled to Bangholme for the SMR Cross Country Region competition with fantastic results.
		All athletes took on the challenge of the St Leonard's College course.
		They achieved excellent results.
		Many came home with individual and team ribbons.
