Casey LAC also runs Youth Athletics, which is available to any young athletes who are 15 or 16 years of age, as of 30th September 2008. For more information regarding the Youth Athletics program, contact the Senior Athletics Co coordinator Karen Wynen on 0431 874 752.

Fees
The registration fee is $90.00 per athlete, which covers insurance with VLAA.

If the annual fee of $90 is broken down over the 20 week program season, it works out to be $4.50 per week, and is comparable to many other sports and activities.  For families with more than three children registering for the season, the fees for the fourth child onwards has been reduced by 30% per child.

St John’s Ambulance Levy
There is a $10 levy payable by each family upon registration at Casey Little Athletics Centre. This ensures that St John Ambulance is available on each competition day to deal with any injury or medical emergency that may arise.

Uniform
All registered Athletes are expected to wear the Casey LAC uniform each week. This is a light blue t-shirt with dark blue sleeves and collar, and the Casey LAC logo printed on the front and blue shorts that are above the knee in length. The t-shirts cost $20 each. For parents who have purchased t-shirts from previous seasons, with or without the Berwick Village logo, these can still be worn.

For the athletes who represent Casey LAC at either Region and or State
Competition, the Casey LAC Competition Uniform must be worn. These are available to purchase at $60 per set or $35 for the top and $25 for the shorts, or to hire at a cost of $10 per uniform per competition. (Region, State or Multi Championships).   A $20 bond is also required for the hire of uniforms.

Registration Days
Our two registration days are Saturday 20th and 27th September, from 9am till 11am, at Edwin Flack Reserve. On these days you can come along and register for the 2008 / 2009 summer season, as well as have a chance to chat to members of the committee.

Registration Tags
All registered Athletes are issued with a Registration tag that shows their name,
age group and registration number, as well as the VLAA sponsors for the current season. All athletes must wear their registration tag each week on the Casey LAC uniform. The registration tag can be sewn on, attached with pins or velcro dots. New athletes are given a weeks grace regarding the registration tag.  If a replacement tag is required families will be charged $5.00 per new tag.  Athletes will not be permitted to compete if they do not have their registration tag.

Season Dates
The first day of competition for this season commences on Saturday 4th October 2008.  Competition days are Saturday mornings with some Twilight evenings on various allocated Fridays. All dates are featured in the handbook, which will be handed out upon registration.  For Saturday morning competition all athletes and parents are expected at the track by 8.10 am to sign on and warm up, so that competition can start at 8.30 am sharp!

On Track Program
Casey LAC offers the On Track Program to Under 6’s. This is a special program that teaches children the fundamentals to help develop the skills required to participate in the athletics program.

Training
Training is available for all athletes at the track. On Tuesday night, training is for Under 6 to Under 9 athletes from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm. On Thursday night, training is for Under 10 to Under 15 athletes from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm.  For those families that have athletes in both age groups it is recommended that you attend the Thursday training session.  Training commences on 30th September 2008 for under 6-9 athletes and on Thursday 2nd October for athletes under 10 and up.  Assistance during training sessions are always greatly appreciated, just see one of the friendly coaches on how you can assist.

Sponsors
Casey LAC would like to thank all of our local businesses that have supported us through advertising in the handbook. Without their support, we would not have been able to purchase some much-needed equipment and supplies. Please show your support by frequenting as many of these businesses as you can and don’t forget to tell them where you saw their ad. If they feel that are getting value for their advertising dollar they will be keen to advertise again next year

Newsletters, Star Awards and other Bits & Pieces
All Star Awards, notices, newsletters, etc. will be placed your ‘Family Folder’. These will be located along the wall in alphabetical order outside the canteen area. It is the responsibility of each family to check their folder so that important information is not missed.

Duty Roster
Every week we need over 110 parent ‘volunteers’ to assist with running the events and to ensure our children are provided with a fantastic athletics program.   Therefore as a parent of an athlete in Little Athletics, it is essential that you assist on competition days to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the program. A member of each family is required to fulfil their parent duty at least once a fortnight.

Permanent position
Permanent positions are those which you do every week, ie. You must be available each week to be given one of these positions or you can make arrangements for someone to cover for you, should you not be able to attend one week.

Weekly sign on
For parents who are unable to commit to a permanent position, then we have a Duty Roster. This means that you will be rostered on certain dates, and advised accordingly. You will be expected to attend and perform allocated duties on the day. We have Education Officers and a supportive Committee available to ‘teach you the ropes’ this season.

Not Sure??
Some parents might be a bit shy or not sure of what is required to be a volunteer. If this is the case then please let us know and we can offer training and support for those of you who are not sure what each position involves.

Forms will be available on registration days for you to indicate your preference regarding duties.  Please ask any further questions on either registration day.
