Casey Centre Championships
The final Casey program for the summer season was the Casey Centre Championships that was held over the weekend of Saturday March 13th and Sunday March 14th.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the Centre Championships on the weekend. Our centre should be really proud of what has been a mixed season and a very full on weekend.

Amongst all the preparation and countless hours leading up to the competition, it was all worth while seeing the kids compete and the families share their children's achievements.

All the couple's who were key officials over the weekend did a great job; it was such a commitment from them and their children. To all those parents who helped out, well done for ensuring the competition was able to be run for all children in all age groups.

So many helped out such as setting up the equipment early at 7am each morning, processing the event sheets with the athletes names, organising ribbons and medals, purchasing and running the canteen, arranging and chaperoning guest medal presenters, conducting each event, repairing equipment during the event, processing the data to determine finals, managing parent duties, stepping in to take on Arena manager for the weekend, packing up all the equipment at the conclusion of each day and many other duties not mentioned here.

Track & FieldCongratulations to all our athletes and parents who attended the weekend events.
Check out the Casey Results by Event here and Casey Results by Name here.

Our Littlest Athletes had lots of fun at Saturday's Junior Carnival, but had to withstand a very wet start. Thank-you to all the parent helpers and children for turning up and participating.

Huge thanks need to go to Casey LAC President and Region Competition Director Shane Triffitt who has put in a phenomenal effort over many months to get the Weekend organised and was wearing many hats over the two days.

Particular thanks go to Kim Tonna, Peter Hughes and Karen Davidson who stepped in at late notice to the role of Chief Assembly Marshall - the Region Track and Field Championships would have ground to a halt without your efforts. Very much appreciated. Also to Rick Norrington for doing a double duty.

Of course we also have to thank the parents who were on duty all weekend as Key Officials and went about their jobs so efficiently and allowed the program to go ahead: David Campbell, Cameron Skeggs, Rod Prime, Stuart Merrick, Peter Hughes , and to Chris Pentland, Karen Wynen, Sue Ashe, who were key Officials for the day. Our Team Managers Keith Van Rossen & Greg Jagusch who did a stirling job all weekend and Keith, Shane, Dean Matheson and Steve Godfrey for equipment set up and pack up. Please some-one let me know if I've left off any-one who deserves a thank -you. There was a lot of work going on all around we don't always get to see.

To the families of these people for letting us have your family members for the day(s) when we all want to watch the competition.

To all our parents for bringing your children along and attending your allocated duty without a fuss, it was fantastic.

But most of all thank-you to the Athletes themselves for your good behavior and sportsmanship. For having a go, for falling down and getting up to run or jump again. For wearing the Casey colours and joining in family, fun and fitness.

Felicity Stark
Secretary
Casey Little Athletics

P.S. We would also like to thank Felicity for the enormous amount of behind the scene work she puts in to make such events possible.

State Multi Event Results
All athletes competed in five athletic disciplines: 100m, Hurdles, 800m, Long Jump and Discus.

"After a couple of quite warm days we’ve made it back from Shepparton safe and sound. Casey ended with four athletes competing, unfortunately Alyssa Prosser had to pull out with an injury.
On Saturday Matisse Lazzari and Mitchell Hughes competed with Matisse doing wonderfully well finishing 3rd (I think with 3 or 4 PB’s) and Mitch finished 20th with 3 PB’s.

Matt DeBruin and Ebony Hughes competed. Matt finished 3rd and is now in the squad to train for nationals, which is a great effort (Gee those U15 boys can run). Eb had a tough start to the day with a bit of a tumble in the hurdles first up, but finished well with a 3rd in her 800m heat at the end of the day, she finished 39th overall." - Peter Hughes, Team Manager

Team Casey performed brilliantly with half the team winning medals. [more here]

On Saturday
Casey Little Athletics CentreThis Saturday check out the Calendar and the Casey Program to see what events you will be doing.

Each competition morning we will need plenty of help from everyone. Do an extra duty on the morning so the kids don't have to wait long between events.
At the end of the morning please help pack the gear away so that it isn't left for the few who do it each week after everyone has gone home. Ask any committee member dressed in a fluro vest where the equipment needs to be stored.

Parents please help out in the canteen this week, just see Kylie there. Two hours of duty counts as a full duty.
