Casey
Centre Championships
The final Casey program for
the summer season was the Casey Centre Championships
that was held over the weekend of Saturday March 13th and Sunday
March 14th.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the Centre
Championships on the weekend. Our centre should be really proud of
what has been a mixed season and a very full on weekend.
Amongst all the preparation and countless hours leading up to the competition,
it was all worth while seeing the kids compete and the families share their children's
achievements.
All the couple's who were key officials over the weekend did a great job; it
was such a commitment from them and their children. To all those parents who
helped out, well done for ensuring the competition was able to be run for all
children in all age groups.
So many helped out such as setting up the equipment early at 7am each morning,
processing the event sheets with the athletes names, organising ribbons and medals,
purchasing and running the canteen, arranging and chaperoning guest medal presenters,
conducting each event, repairing equipment during the event, processing the data
to determine finals, managing parent duties, stepping in to take on Arena manager
for the weekend, packing up all the equipment at the conclusion of each day and
many other duties not mentioned here.

The awards are iron on patches and we suggest ironing them onto
the sleeve of the uniform.

Congratulations
to all our athletes and parents who attended the weekend events.
Check out the Casey Results
by Event here and Casey Results

Our Littlest Athletes had lots of fun at Saturday's Junior Carnival, but had
to withstand a very wet start. Thank-you to all the parent helpers and children
for turning up and participating.
Huge thanks need to go to Casey LAC President and Region Competition Director Shane Triffitt
who has put in a phenomenal effort over many months to get the Weekend organised
and was wearing many hats over the two days.
Particular thanks go to Kim Tonna, Peter Hughes
and Karen Davidson who stepped in at late notice
to the role of Chief Assembly Marshall - the Region Track and Field Championships
would have ground to a halt without your efforts. Very much appreciated. Also
to Rick Norrington for doing a double duty.
Of course we also have to thank the parents who were on duty all weekend as Key
Officials and went about their jobs so efficiently and allowed the program to
go ahead: David Campbell, Cameron Skeggs, Rod Prime, Stuart Merrick, Peter Hughes
, and to Chris Pentland, Karen Wynen, Sue Ashe,
who were key Officials for the day. Our Team Managers Keith Van
Rossen & Greg Jagusch who did
a stirling job all weekend and Keith, Shane, Dean Matheson
and Steve Godfrey for equipment
set up and pack up. Please some-one let me know if I've left off any-one who
deserves a thank -you. There was a lot of work going on all around we don't always
get to see.
To the families of these people for letting us have your family members for the
day(s) when we all want to watch the competition.
To all our parents for bringing your children along and attending your allocated
duty without a fuss, it was fantastic.
But most of all thank-you to the Athletes themselves for your good behavior and
sportsmanship. For having a go, for falling down and getting up to run or jump
again. For wearing the Casey colours and joining in family, fun and fitness.
Felicity Stark
Secretary
Casey Little Athletics
P.S. We would also like to thank Felicity for
the enormous amount of behind the scene work she puts in to make such events
possible.

and sound. Casey ended with four athletes competing, unfortunately Alyssa Prosser
had to pull out with an injury.
On Saturday Matisse Lazzari and Mitchell Hughes

4 PB’s) and Mitch finished 20th with 3 PB’s.
Matt DeBruin
and Ebony Hughes
