The Program will be modified on days which have been affected by wet weather.
Hurdle, High Jumps, Shot put and any event deemed to be unsafe will be substituted with running events so as to provide a full morning program as far as possible.

Saturday morning competition is only cancelled if there is, or will be, substantial rainfall at the starting time.

Decisions to cancel are delayed until the last possible minute in order to avoid unnecessary cancellations of the Seasons Programs during the changeable spring/summer weather.
Have a hot cuppa while you wait!

On any days that competition is cancelled due to bad weather, Casey LAC may be offering a Cross Country Run instead. It is expected to take 30 minutes. Athletes need to meet at the track at 9.00 am.

If its raining
If its raining on competition day check your email account, check out the
Weather Radar, you may also see advice on the Home page if the competition had been cancelled or if a cross country event has been substituted.

We may run a twilight competition on another day during the week if the competition is cancelled so that the athletes don't miss too many programs. Revisit this website soon after any program has been cancelled for an update.

Weather Outlook for the Summer Season - 2010/2011

La Niña conditions continue to dominate across the tropical Pacific. Long-range models surveyed by the Bureau suggest that this La Niña event will persist through the southern hemisphere summer.

La Niña periods are generally associated with above normal rainfall during the second half of the year across large parts of Australia, most notably eastern and northern regions.

The 2010 event has contributed to Australia's wettest spring on record. Night time temperatures during La Niña periods are historically warmer than average.

HOT WEATHER INFORMATION
UV ALert
Check out the Sun Smart UV Alert for today.

On days forecast to be very hot the Program will be modified to bring forward long distance events to the beginning of the days events. In extreme situations events may be substituted or cancelled.

Remember at temperatures greater than 30 degrees Celsius, children have greater difficulty getting rid of heat than adults. [more]

Please use your own best judgement whether to stay and allow your children to compete or to finish early and leave.

Read advice on how to beat the heat.

For the best protection against UV radiation:

1. Slip on some sun protective clothing – that covers as much skin as possible.
2. Slop on SPF30+ sunscreen – make sure it is broad spectrum and water resistant. Put it on 20 minutes before you go outdoors and every two hours afterwards. Sunscreen should never be used to extend the time you spend in the sun.
3. Slap on a hat – that protects your face, head, necks and ears.
4. Seek shade.
5. Slide on some sunglasses – make sure they meet Australian Standards.
